He Lives
This piece for soprano, flute, and piano was commissioned as a gift to honor the life and work of an individual. It was loosely based on one of his favorite hymns.
In Peace I Will Lie Down
This piece for soprano and piano was written to honor the life and work of a dear lady who had dedicated her life and career to mission work in Kazakhstan. The text was adapted from Psalm 4:6-8. She said that these verses brought her comfort when lying down to sleep each night.
Strong and Weak
This piece for soprano and string quartet was commissioned by LaGrange College for its biennial New Music Festival in 2015. It’s a setting of a philosophical poem from the Tao Te Ching. This type of music works well for concerts and dedicatory events.
Wondrous Love
This piece for soprano, violin, horn, and piano was commissioned for the annual Songs for Sebaco benefit concert sponsored by The Harmony House. It’s an uplifting piece based on the hymn What Wondrous Love is This.
