Let’s talk about inspiration. Webster’s dictionary describes it as,
Something that makes someone want to do something or that gives someone an idea about what to do or create.
I used to wait for inspiration. I’d wait and wait and wait. And then I’d wait some more! Okay, let’s be real. That’s called procrastination.
Why do we procrastinate on creating our art?
Is it because we’re lazy? Is it because we’d rather be doing other things? Or are we afraid? Afraid of failing. Afraid of succeeding.
Procrastinating affords us the opportunity never to try.
I love the way Jon Acuff describes it. He says,
If you’re going to risk and maybe fail, fail at something that matters. Fail gloriously so that even in failure, lives change.
If we believe in our art and our message we won’t fail. We fail if we never do
